Jakarta, September 18, 2025 – The Latvia national futsal team defeated the Netherlands 3-2 in the Aqua Futsal Four Nations Cup 2025 match held at GBK Basket Hall, Jakarta, on Thursday (18/9) at 3:00 PM local time.
The Netherlands took the lead through an early goal by Tevfik Ceyar (9’), but Latvia responded with two goals from Viktors Kulepovs (13’, 20’). The Netherlands equalized through Ismail Bouhalh (30’), before Latvia sealed victory with a decisive goal by Andzejs Mickevics (37’).
Netherlands Head Coach, Miguel Andres Moreno, said his team showed a positive performance.
“Our reaction in the second half was quite good, we were more dominant. But we still made mistakes that should not have happened. Overall, though, the result is positive,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Latvia Head Coach, Massimiliano Bellarte, credited the win to his team’s ability to manage pressure and capitalize on opportunities.
“We won because we have good players and we were able to handle difficult situations. Today we showed that we can compete with a team like the Netherlands,” he said.
With this result, Latvia strengthened their chances of advancing to the final of the Aqua Futsal Four Nations Cup 2025, a tournament featuring four national teams.
The Garuda futsal tournament atmosphere was further enlivened by a performance from singer Fabio Asher before the match, along with daily music entertainment and a Fanzone filled with games, merchandise, and culinary delights—making it a festive sporting event.
