Jakarta, September 20, 2025 – Latvia put on a dominant performance and defeated Tanzania with a convincing 3-0 win at the AQUA Futsal Four Nations Cup 2025, held at GBK Basket Hall, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (20/9) at 3:00 PM local time.
A quick goal was scored by Latvia’s Viktors Kulepovs in the 4th minute, followed by an own goal from Tanzania’s Omari Hasani Yahaya in the 13th minute. Latvia then closed the first half with a third goal through Miks Babris in the 17th minute.
Tanzania’s Head Coach, Curtis Darrel Reid, admitted there was improvement in his team’s performance despite the loss.
“We played much better tactically compared to the previous match,” he said.
Meanwhile, Latvia’s Head Coach, Massimiliano Bellarte, considered the match beneficial for all the players involved.
“This was a good game for the spectators and for the players who played it,” he said.
With this victory, Latvia topped the temporary standings and became the first team to secure a big chance of reaching the final of the AQUA Futsal Four Nations Cup 2025. The result also set a standard for host nation Indonesia.
The Garuda futsal tournament atmosphere was made even livelier with a performance by singer Barsena Bestandhi before the match, along with daily music entertainment and a Fanzone filled with games, merchandise, and food—making it not just a competition, but a festive sports event.
